Move to Tennessee

Tennessee Mountain Range

The secret is out, Tennessee is a great place to live. With a centralized location in the Eastern portion of the United States, Tennessee is a half days drive or less from most anything on the East Coast. We are one state from the Atlantic Ocean, separated only by a beautiful mountain range that protects us from the hurricanes that, these days, seem to more frequently batter the coast. Tennessee is blessed with a bounty of natural beauty including the Great Smoky Mountains, the Tennessee Valley, and numerous lakes created by TVA whose dams provide cheap electricity to the area.

Since the earliest expansion of our nation, Tennessee has been a thoroughfare for goods and commerce as it passes from the east coast to the central states. First by rail, then by the major interstates of I-40, I-75, and I-81, a huge portion of the goods consumed by the United States pass through Tennessee. For this reason, goods are typically cheaper in Tennessee than other areas. For instance, gas prices seem to always be well below the national average. You will notice this the first time you stop to fill up at the pump.

Affordabality has made Tennessee a great place for many people to retire. In fact, Tennessee has seen an influx of retirees who realized, after moving to Florida, that Tennessee is a better option for retirement. These people are described as "Halfbacks". What is a Halfback? A person who is moving halfway back to where they came from, typically from the northern states. Why do people move halfway back and wind up in Tennessee? Well, who wants to be pounded by high property taxes, outrageously priced homeowners insurance, and not to mention hurricanes year after year after year?

With it's central location, low property taxes, no income taxes, and natural beauty, it's no wonder why so many people are discovering that Tennessee is a great place to call home. Come and visit any you will better understand why Tennessee might just be the place where you want to live. Homes are still affordable, it's not too late.
